Inspiration behind Making of 'The Unspoken Truth'
The first image is a print screen from one of the subtitles in the paranormal thriller 'The Devil Inside'. The ellipses (...) were used to build tension and suspense. They make the audience anxious as to what will happen next. We used the ellipses in our own film to create the same effect as the one in 'The Devil Inside'. In our film opening this was used as transition to indicate to the audience; the time being passed.
The second image is a print screen of the paranormal/ supernatural thriller font that inspired us to create our own. The font of the title sequence is of 'The Woman In Black'. The font id quite simple and old-fashioned. The title is displayed on a misty window where the actually title is written in dew which then drips down the window ading a dark and deep effect. The font that was used in our film was not exactly the same but it was the closest we could find to it which still looked supernatural like. The old fashioned font can relate to the persona of Florence Cole as she is an older woman who is obviously old fashioned. The font we have used is called 'PerryGothic' which we downloaded the font from a website which is called 'dafont.com'.
The group also watch the psychological thriller 'Memento' trailer which was useful and gave us the idea of the switch between black-and-white and colored scenes. This is supposed to represent a link between both the past and the present whilst also acting as a smooth transition.
Up to Date Film Treatment for 'The Unspken Truth'
The Unspoken Truth (Opening 2Minutes)
Our film is based in 2010 and is about a mother and daughter whos relationship is ruined by 'the unspoken truth'. The character Florence Cole is played Jessica Ansah and is an older lady who is schizophrenic. Both Florence and Scarlet Cole are unaware of Florence's illness which is driving her to act insane.
Scarlett Cole is pregnant at the age of 16 and is obviously scared to tell her mother because of her young age and the shame she would bring onto her. When Scarlett's mother finds out the dissapointing news she decides to be supportive of her daughter. Florences promise to her daughter goes haywire when she suddenly develops an aggressive and violent persona.
Florence Cole's disease is worsening and she is becoming more and more corrupt. Florence's violent persona drives her to her grandson's room where she then takes the innocent and asleep infant to an orphange.
Florence Cole is a loving mother who can also be strict at times as Scarlett is her only child. As a result of Florence's conflicting personality Scarlett suffers also and believes that she needs some type of psychatric help.
Eight weeks into the the film which is edited as a progression in time; we see Scarlett Cole heavily pregnant in her daily life. Two weeks from the previous Scarlett gves birth to a her son Raymond and still has to work in order to support her young child.
Further into the story Scarlett arrives at her home expecting to see her newly born child but is wlcomed at the door by a tearful Florence Cole. Florence decieves her child and tells her that Raymond has passed of a cot death. Scarlett is in despair and rushes up in through the door past her mother and up to the room where her child is to be only to find her baby is gone.
After these series of events during Scarlett's mourning process she hears her baby crying for her in her nightmares which seem to scare her out of her sleep. Scarlett hears her child although he isn't there which dries her insane all in the name of 'the unspoken truth'.
Our Exported Film
The film that has been created by my group has been uploaded to social networkings sites such as etc. by the two other members of my group. I could not do so as I have deactivated my account. However people have viewed our work and have given back some very useful feedback which has enabled the group to make alterations to the piece in order to better our work and make it more appealing.
As a group we have all agreed that we are happy with the finished product and it is the first time any of us has done anything like this so we are excited and anxious to recieve our grade which I believe will be very rewarding. We exported our complete project and have also uploaded it to youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYrpMp0A61Y

Our Main Score (Editing)
The is our music editing. The sofware used was GarageBand which came free on Michaela's iPad. We tried to create music which would build tension to our opening. We thought this would indicate to the audience that the genre of the film is a thriller.

Progress & Editing
The above print screen is of the editing. We have started editing our shots to produce the final piece. The softwares usedare Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects. In this particular shot Dana Talabi portrays the 'ethereal' quality and connotation that Florence Cole holds. Although we have edited this shot we are not 100% sure that we will use it in our final product.
New & Improved Casting Notes
Audrey Mascarenhas will be playing the role of Scarlett Cole. Previously the role was allocated to Comfort Botha who had had some difficulties turning up to the most recent filming date. Audrey was used as a back-up as she is a very talented actress and I do believe that the role suits her more and I think that we should have given her the role in the first place. The filming was successful with audrey as the new lead role. The group are pleased with the new desision.
Dana Talabi plays the role of Florence Cole's split personality. The role of Flrence Cole is still played by Jessica Ansah. Dana was great for this role as she is full of energy and up for anything. Dana said that she was used to roles similar to this one where played a quite supernatural role. In the opening of our film whenever Florence Cole is about to do something evil her split personality (Dana) appears next to her to given an edge to the film.

Location Report
The two minute opening of the 'Unspoken Truth' was filmed at Ashley Road, Islington. The house we used to film belonged to a family member of the producer Michaela Stewart's uncle. The day we filmed was the 11th of February 2012.
Below are a few images of where we filmed, the cast and of the mise en scene:
This is the living room. We used this room to film the water-breaking of the main character (Scarlett Cole) and the scene where she holds her baby and also where her mother florence cole breaks bad news to her

SMC Productions Logo
This is our Logo. We had created a previou logo but thought that this one would be more mature and appropriate as the colours are plain and simple.

The Shooting Script For 'The Unskpoken Truth' Opening
This is 'SMC Productions's' Shooting script. For our shooting script we basically mapped out what we were going to film and how we would do it. This is useful and will help us keep organised.
This is the Production Schedule for SMC
The Production Scedule helps the group keep on top of every task that we have to complete. This schedule is of all the tasks we need to carry out and once we have completed them we can tick them off of our list and move onto the next task which needs to be done.
Location Photos Edited With Reports
This close up of the house is going to be showing during our the opening scene when the title of the opening and the producers names are displayed on the screen. (This represents the orphan).
I have edited this photo taken by Michaela Stewart. I edited this uing Adobe Photoshop to make it look more thriller like. I darkened the bottom leaves of the bush to make it look more forbidden. I also darkened some other areas then changed the image to black and white.
